Hogsty Reef to Ragged Cay, Bahamas

14-18 knot winds and 2 ft waves with a broad reach sail. Bioluminescence during the night. No other vessels seen. The windlass seized and would not operate to drop the anchor. We manually dropped it and now will need to troubleshoot.

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos to Hogsty Reef, Bahamas

6-12 knot winds and up to 1.5 knot waves. At the start, wind was from the north west and too light so we motored. SlEngine finally turned off around noon with a beam reach. The job was furled because we were traveling quick and did not want to arrive before sunrise due to the reef and shallow conditions. By 11p, winds from behind and main sail boom was banging and rocking the boat like we had big waves and wind. We tried to lower the main sail without assisting it from below and sail the jib. There was not enough wind so we decided to furl the jib and motor.

Bahama bound

Just about 200 miles! We had a fun sail. The first few hours were super sporty. We had a huge wave come and drench the cockpit. For 80% of the time it was a nice downwind sail. Our port engine had a coolant leak that we thought we fixed on the passage but right as we were going to anchor broke again. Luckily we have friends in the same Bay to come help. Welcome to the Bahamas! We did have a casualty. Dead squid on deck.

Travel to Turks and Caicos to get out of a storm

Our plan was to do a 2 night sail to the Bahamas but the wind off of Dominican Republic didn't look great. So we opted to do a one night to a little island off Turks and Caicos called Big Sand Cay. It's gorgeous! Good stop for the night before we get to the Bahamas tomorrow.
