Conference is a small village situated on the northeastern coast of Grenada, known for its picturesque landscapes and tranquil ambiance. The village's name is believed to have originated from historical conferences that took place between plantation owners in the area, in an era now long gone. The small island opposite the village is likewise called Conference Island. Also interesting is the repeated use of "Telescope" for the nearby village, the point, the rock just offshore and then the jewel, Telescope beach. The name suggests another interesting story which we were unfortunately unable to unearth...

Ronde Island to Blow Hole, Grenada
The Salt Whistle Bay we arrived at this afternoon, is in sad contrast to the sweet memories of our previous visit - white beach, swaying palm trees and a quaint beach restaurant...all because of Beryl. The proliferation of mooring balls in the bay in all the prime anchoring spots, detracts further from what we formerly thought of as an almost perfect anchorage. With all that said, still worth visiting - and in a few months' time the effects of Beryl should be almost invisible, and Salt Whistle Bay be well on its way to regain some of its former charm and magic.
