NASBLAGentle winds heading out, better and steady coming back. Had lunch hove to, took a dip on anchor. Lost a swim ladder, almost lost a pair of gloves.

Good steady wind, strong current where the channels meet. Swell not so high in the bay. Motored out to Rockaway channel and then practiced spinning clockwise in place. Current made for an obstacle. Unfurled the headsail and sailed for a bit before heading back and motoring around the mooring field and spinning in tighter quarters. Finally, landed on mooring on motor.

Good wind, hairy launch and exit from field. Short sail, soft grounded near Kingsborough, give it 40ft at low tide.

Gentle breeze, mostly single handing save for my partner pulling one side of headsail one handed with a baby in the other! Lil guy mostly behaved himself, didn't play with Woody as much as I'd hoped. Made it back to dock 30 minutes later than intending, home 60 minutes later... Perfect landing and picked up mooring line myself with ease.

Forecasted gentle was mostly true. We were able to sail off mooring and into Jamaica Bay with patience. Caught a bit more wind heading to the bridge for a decent sail. L and I wanted to swim once the sun came out, thought about asking for a mooring at Rockaway, but didn't know the channel :( Heaved to while I tried to figure it out, but we were also out of time. Sailed back to channel and then motored in to field before sailing the field and landing with L picking up the mooring line on an awkward downwind approach. First time skippering officially (without a more knowledgeable sailor aboard).

Awoke and set sail before 8am. Practiced single handing off the mooring on sail with hands standing by in a roomy field. Ended up making it to the Ambrose channel on a light breeze at our backs before wind slowed. The last 3 nmi were on motor. Paolo rigged a preventer while we were wing and wing. I landed us single handed on motor I believe.

Steady 10kts most of the way over the beam. Somehow we came in first despite our handicap, perhaps because we were the shortest boat the current on our beam was less of a problem for holding course? Paolo and I equal share of helm, trimming, motor operation. After race, we tested the anchor in 10ft of water and it held nicely for 30-40 minutes in steady wind and current. Staying at RCYC for the night.

Moderately windy with a bit of gusting. First race was to a marker that we had no visual on until half way there, so I navigated by OpenCPN. We placed third and second of 6 (or 7) and both times we were foiled by the current and wind shifts approaching the marker. Lesson learned, sail parallel to current rather than perpendicular.

Windy and gusty. Paolo launched us, then I helmed us out and handed over to Benji. I landed us. Everything smooth given the gusty wind.

I helmed out of the cove and up the river mostly. Got caught on a lobster pot line and didn't realize it until the second time around, too much excitement due to proximity to rocks. Got a nice swim and then towed under the South Bristol bridge. Lowered the mast and trailered home before putting to bed.
