Great beam reach in ideal conditions. Perhaps the barnacles started to come off because we actually got some speed up.

Light winds. Hull heavily crusted with barnacles and slowed us down significantly.

Day 35: Skiathos to Possidi Cape

Day 33: Inside passage north from Chalkis

After a really fast run downwind in the Meltemi winds (which we earned yesterday) we set in for a day of medium fast upwind sailing to the awesome industrial seaside town of Alivera. We enjoyed mooring to the quai, the kids playground, and the low key beach bar.

Day 30: Escape from the Meltemi inside Evoia

Bashing into the steep short waves was very unpleasant and the only way we could make progress was with the motor on. We made good speed, but in the process we bent the anchor pin (from digging the bow into the waves), the bow hatch drain sheered off flooding the bow workshop, the plastic chain guard screwed to the deck found its way back to the cockpit and a steel toe-rail cap was lost. Also, everyone was seasick. 

Day 29: Motor-sailing in the Meltemi 

Day 28: Aegina to Sounion

Fun to transit the Corinth canal! We were told to speed up as we were the last in the convoy and were going at a too relaxed pace. Aegina was very busy so we anchored off. It took three attempts to dig the anchor in.
