US SailingGreat close hauled sail. Sailing with James & Jaqueline on Esmeralda, both making our way to Georgetown for next weekend to meet family. Beautiful day. Another gorgeous anchorage behind a very large mooring field. Took the dinghy over to the park office and hiked up to Boo Boo hill. Spectacular views. Mooring balls in the narrow River close to the park office are in very pretty area.

Easy sail on Genoa only for short distance to anchorage just south . First stop in the Land & Sea National Park. So excited to meet up with our friends from home James & Jaqueline on Esmeralda! Very shallow entrance to anchorage, anchored in about 9’ at high tide. Looking forward to exploring this area.

Norman's Cay Airport to Shroud Cay, Bahamas
Sherry Pickett - Fabulous two days here! The water colours are spectacular, explored the rivers through the mangroves, saw lots of turtles. Had a picnic lunch on the gorgeous beach on the other side. Met a couple from Kincardane whom we had met in Port Lucaya a few weeks ago. Yesterday spent the afternoon on the beach by the anchorage. Saw a small nurse shark and one very mature conch and several baby conchs.

Beautiful day, light winds about 8kts. Short sail over to Norman Cay Anchorage. Followed Aquamaps routes and waypoints as Navionics looks like it’s too shallow but no problems getting in with Aquamaps. Made friends at last Anchorage who have just arrived here too and are coming over for drinks. Louis & Chris on SV Jenny Lind with crew member William. They had the water maker part we needed and we were able to fix the water maker yesterday!!! They needed a fuel filter which we didn’t have but have ordered to home for Alison to bring down in a couple weeks. Thanks Alison 😉

Highborne Cay to Norman's Cay Airport, Bahamas
Sherry Pickett - Today we snorkelled the plane wreck which was great! Lots of fish swimming all around us. The wreck is in shallow water so easy to snorkel. Went for a walk on the beach and found McDuff’s bar but it was empty so decided not to stay. Saw a shark along the beach right after I climber into the dinghy.

Downwind sail with 18-20kts most of the way. Waves were bigger than forecast with a short period so not very comfortable. Motor sailed because we couldn’t get a good angle to keep the Genoa filled. Timed the cut to avoid wind against current but it was still lively with the east winds. Anchored off a beautiful beach, hot, sunny, and windy day.

Very calm, hot day on the water. Arrived at the beautiful Cape Eleuthera Resort & Marina for an early birthday celebration. Three beaches (Sunset beach, Sunrise Beach and a good snorkelling beach), a pool, restaurant and bar, store and dive shop. Friendly staff. Marina fees include use of all resort amenities including bicycles, paddle boards and kayaks. Very quiet, not very busy, lots of slips available. Met a nice couple docked beside us on S/V Isle of Misfits (Matt & Rob).

We had fair winds and following seas today. A beautiful gentle down wind sail south along the west coast of Eleuthera Island. Morning started off with three dolphins escorting us for at least 15 mins. Winds picked up and we had 16-18kts from the NW as we arrived at Governors Harbour so we opted for the more protected anchorage behind Levi Island. Stunning water colours and we’re the only boat anchored in this beautiful bay. Will have a long dinghy ride if we decide to go explore the town. Sailed here with Duane who opted for anchoring closer to town.

Cow and Bull to Colebrooke Dale, Bahamas
Sockeye - I commented on Sherry's last post asking if you want any information on sights to see around Exuma Sound. Or, I can leave you to find joys on your own, or something in between. There are few spots you would likely miss on a first pass. 7 seasons looping the sound with Outward Bound courses offered opportunities to explore new places. As we worked out of Cape Eleuthera, we got to know Rock Sound and the "Whale Tail" of Eleuthera as well as Little San Salvador, Cat Island, the north end of Long Island, and all the Exumas Let me know. Either way, I enjoy armchair sailing with your posts. Thanks for posting.

Early morning departure to arrive at Current Cut at slack tide. Motor sailed to the cut then motored into the wind to our destination. Beautiful morning. Anchored just north of the Glass Window, beach access to walk across the road to the Queens Bath.

Spanish Wells to Cow and Bull, Bahamas
Sockeye - If I recall correctly, you cruising for this one season. I am curious the extent of where you plan/hope to go. I am enjoying moments of armchair sailing with you. Are you heading directly to the Exumas or exploring more of Eleuthera and perhaps Cat Island? I won't spoils your own finds, but if I can point out a few spots you would not likely see my seven years of looping around Exuma Sound will continue to serve others. Beyond Exuma Sound I will be learning from you!

Meeks Patch to Spanish Wells, Bahamas
Sherry Pickett - Explored Spanish Wells today by golf cart and visited some beaches on the north side. Found a great store for flip flops (I forgot my shoes on the boat 🤷♀️) and flippers for snorkelling at decent prices, called The Islander Shop. Went to the Sandbar Beach Bar for lunch. Found out it’s election day in Bahamas so they are not allowed to serve alcohol until after 6PM. The winds got higher than we were expecting this afternoon and made for a very wet dinghy ride back to the boat. All three of us in Duane’s dinghy after filling up four gerry cans of fuel and a few groceries. Although we’re on the Lee shore this afternoon again winds are expected to veer north and get stronger.
