Beautiful day of sailing. NW 5-10 knots with lots of sun. Sailed 3-4 knots most of the time. Saw many humpbacks for hours while we sailed towards Gorge Harbour. Wind died 3 miles from the Gorge so we stopped for a last swim before motoring in. Hanna did a badass job of docking in a tight spot.

Headed to Squirrel Cove after a slow morning in Teakerne Arm. Sunny day with a decent NW wind, 5-10 knots. Sailed a good chunk of the way, with decent wind. Anchored in Squirrel Cove, only night on the trip without a stern tie.

Stopped at Refuge Cove for water, ice, to drop off garbage with Garbage Dave, and for ice cream. Perused the general store. Cute place. Easy docking at the left(looking at the store) side of the marina. Did get busier with more boats as it got closer to noon. Free 4-hour moorage. Went into Teakerne Arm. Tried a few times to anchor close to the dingy dock without success. Moved further east in a little bay that had a power boat anchored. Anchored and stern tied. Stern tie was on a tree. Dropped a second anchor with the dingy to the east to ensure we wouldn’t move. Recommend having two people in the dingy for this operation and to let it down slowly. Hiked to lake and jumped on the rocks, very fun. Perfect temperature lake.

Got the sails up and tacked up the channel, ~3knots. Made our way down to Laura Cove. Anchored first try in Laura Cove and stern tied. Friendly vibe. Water was pretty warm for swimming and rope swing was very fun. Tobin and I rowed around, beautiful area, lots of oyster beds to watch for. Observed that Prideaux Haven was traditional anchoring, not stern tied.

Beautiful sunny day, 5 knots or so of wind. Sailed a bit when we left the Copelands, had to motor to get to where we were going. Sarah and I got the sails back up wing on wing for half an hour or so in Pendrell Sound. Anchored at the head of the sound, lots of beautiful scenery.

First day of our Desolation Sound trip. Broke a hot water tank fitting at the dock and got an emergency delivery from Powell River. Then we were rammed by an ice cream licking powerboat operator in the Marina. Finally got away and found an anchorage in the Copelands, took a couple tries to find a good spot. Water was nice for a swim.

15-20 knots of wind, heavy sea state, sunny and warm. Sailed out and around Entrance Island. Had an altercation with a fishing boat before heading into Pilot Bay for lunch. BBQ lunch and a swim. Headed back to Nanaimo and saw an orca while dodging the ferries. Needed to spill a lot of wind to keep the boat comfortable, we should rig up a second reefing line.
