One berth, not the whole boat
Every trip here is sold one berth at a time, so nobody books the whole boat and you don't need anyone to come with you. You join a skipper and a crew of four to ten, most of whom also came on their own. No experience needed on most trips; the card says which.

A week sailing the Greek islands as one of the crew, not a guest on somebody else's boat. Your own cabin, a flotilla alongside you, and flights from the UK in the price. Come on your own or bring someone.
No. Most berths on our boats are booked singly. Couples and friends come too, but a crew of strangers is the normal case, and by the second day it isn't one.
On some trips, for an extra charge; the trip page says when. On Co-Charter in Greece, a cabin of your own is how it works.
It depends on the boat. Catamarans and cruising yachts have twin cabins shared with someone of the same sex. Ocean and race boats use sea berths, and you sleep when you're off watch. The trip page says which.
Not on most trips. The level is on every card: Beginner, Open to all, Intermediate or Advanced. If a trip asks for more than you have, the trip page says so before you book.
Every one of these takes solo bookings. Choose by how long you have and how much sailing you want.

Skippered cruising in the Mediterranean or the Caribbean. You help sail as much as you want.
RYA courses with an instructor and a small group of students, from Competent Crew to Day Skipper.
Offshore legs from the Channel to the Med to the Atlantic islands. Check which passages meet your Yachtmaster requirements.
Atlantic crossings, the Pacific, Patagonia, Cape Town to St Helena. Join a crew for a longer voyage and settle into life on watch.

Compare the dates, sailing level, boat and what's included.

“Perfect introduction to non-stop ocean sailing, and night watches. We were blessed with plenty of solar/celestial activity, but most of all a professional and friendly crew who were generous with their time and expertise, and very lovely and thoughtful on top.”

“I'm a resonably experienced club sailor with some racing experience on smaller keelboats. When I realized I would be visiting the south coast during the Round the Island Race, I went looking for a chance to join a crew. I didn't want to over-sell my experience, and finding a new class of boat (for me) and an organizer like Tim (who was looking to make the event a training day in which we would all have a chance to learn and practice our skills) was the perfect fit. With an experienced skipper and a crew with diverse sailing sailing backgrounds, we worked well together and helped each other in our various roles. Tim focused on communication and timing, making sure we knew what to do, and what to do next. Finishing in in the top half of our class was a proud moment considering we all met for the first time at 5am on race day.”

“Quite simply, it was a fantastic day. Tim was brilliant, as was everyone else on board. It was great to rotate responsibilities throughout the day, giving everyone the chance to experience all aspects of sailing. It was a fantastic way to pick up new sailing tips, build confidence, and have a great deal of fun along the way. I would highly recommend these sails!”

“The day was absolutely brilliant, Tim who organised the event did an exceptional job, Richard the Skipper was a local so knew the Solent like the back of his hand so the boat sailed well at all times, Niomi who ran the bow definitely knew her stuff and when there was a problem sorted promptly so we could still sail competitively. To say none of us as crew had meet before hand everyone got on and did there rolls and helped others out if people where struggling a bit. By the end of the day everyone could do everything and do it well. I would definitely recommend Seatrails as a company. Hopefully I will sail with them again.”

Some yacht owners welcome crew who help sail and share costs. Crew Match connects skippers with sailors looking for their next boat.

A cracked shroud 250 miles from the Rolex Middle Sea Race finish, three volcanoes in one campaign, and why Robert Šarić of Veruda Sailing School trains his crews on the Adriatic.

A Tall Ships bursary put Elouise Pemberton to sea at 19. Twenty years on she is working through all thirteen Challenge yachts, logging every mile on SailTies.

Jenny Whelan sailed 46 legs and 1,800 nautical miles around Britain with her partner Pete, their dog Svea, and an AI chatbot, logging every leg on SailTies.
No. Many people on our boats are in their fifties and sixties, and plenty of them started in their fifties. Pick a trip marked Beginner or Open to all and tell the skipper it's your first time.
Yes, and they don't need a label. Every trip here takes solo bookings. Look for a week in sheltered water, such as the Ionian or the Grenadines, if you'd rather not do night watches.
On some trips, for an extra charge, and the trip page says when. On Co-Charter in Greece every guest has a cabin of their own, so it suits sailing on your own.
On cruising yachts and catamarans, usually a twin cabin with someone of the same sex. On ocean and race boats, a sea berth you use when you're off watch. The trip page says which.
Usually four to ten guests, plus the skipper and, on bigger boats, a mate. The trip page gives the boat and its berths.
Usually. If it matters to you, ask us before you book and we'll check with the operator.
Yes. Book two berths on the same departure. If you want a cabin together, say so and the operator will try.
Not for trips marked Beginner or Open to all, which is most of them. Intermediate and Advanced trips ask for miles or a qualification, and the trip page says what.
RYA courses in the Solent, passages and mile builders from the south coast, and voyages around Scotland. The United Kingdom page lists them all.
A skippered week in the Ionian in May, June or September: flat water, short hops and a different harbour each night.
Yes. January is the Caribbean season: regattas, island-hopping cruises and passages between the islands. The winter sun page lists them.
From a few hundred pounds for a short course or passage to several thousand for an ocean crossing. Your berth, the skipper and the safety kit are always included; the trip page lists what else is.
The operators are vetted by us, the skippers are professionally qualified, and the reviews on each trip are written only by people who were on the boat.
The operator sends a kit list. A soft bag, deck shoes, and waterproofs on anything north of the Med. Most people bring too much.
Yes. The free SailTies app logs the miles, the track and the crew, and the miles count toward RYA qualifications.
