I began sailing at age 50 on a Hobie Wave when on vacation in Cancun. I bought a used Hobie Getaway for our small small lake where my parents live. I watched way too many YouTube channels not to try it and booked our first vacation in 2023 with Navigare out of Marsh Harbour for 5 days. Captain Marquis Knowles made the trip a fantastic success and my wife was hooked as well. I started the NauticEd training checking off with Captain Bradley St Croix in BVI in 2024. Now I’m hooked.

Cinnamon rolls from McIntosh then enough wind to sail for a few hours. Lunch at Grabbers after mooring ball there. Cody did great and took us out of Harbour area. Snorkeling on Tombstone Reef outside of Fowl Cay. Anchoring there went well. Really cool snorkeling. Kendra with fish scare. On to Hopetown for different mooring technique for mom. Diner st Hopetown Inn and Marina — Cassandra is red haired waitress

Low wind but beautiful sun. Found the barge at Whale Cay. Ran off a shark and snorkeled the area. Jumped off boat. Great water day. Easy pass through Whale Cut to No Name Cay to eat at Big O’s and see the pigs. Anchored at New Plymouth for the night. Winds circled but anchor held.

Great Guana Cay to Water Cay, Bahamas
Raised sails on anchor but low wind. Improved after passing Tahiti beach so we were able to sail much of the way. Cody flew the drone and got great video and images. Tried anchoring at Grabbers but didn’t hold. I Probably didn’t give it time before backing up. Used new mooring ball with some difficulty but Cody and Kendra got it done. Lunch at Grabbers and then golf cart to ocean side. Played in the ocean and walked beach to Nippers Golf cart tour of settlement.

Anchor held well in high wind near Baker Bay Area. I tried going over there but private. Raised sail on anchor with one reef. Sailed downwind with jibe turns in about 20 kn winds to Tahiti Beach for lunch and a great nap. No Thirsty Cuda today. Sailed upwind to Hope Town harbor area and dropped sails. Motored in and caught mooring after a few tries in high wind and some help from a nice old man Dinner at Firefly. Not as good as Abaco Inn.
