Highborne to Norman’s Cay

Started with 15 knots beam reach and quickly got to 20-22 knots close hauled. 1’ sea state. Great sailing conditions. Saw an oncoming sailboat cross the sand bank that showed 4’-6’ so I called them when they crossed the bank. They said it was 14’! So we carefully crossed at the same point and was good! Shortened the trip a lot.

West Bay to Highborne Cay (Exumas‼️)

Early start with calm seas that gradually built into PERFECT sailing conditions (13 knots, 2’ seas and directly from where we wanted to go🤣) Saw Rocinante on the Exumas Bank‼️ Almost came nose to nose with a Catamaran under power but he finally heard me calling and ran up to the cockpit to turn his boat!

Chub Cay to West Bay

17-22 knot winds 3’-5’ swells Sailing upwind all the way! Motored the last bit so we could get anchored before sunset. BC of the channel between the Berry and Andros islands the area was very busy. West Bay had 17 boats and I’m sure more will arrive later. Got to see John’s “JAWS Beach” 😁

1st Crossing to Bimini‼️

13-8 knot winds 4-5’ swells off the Florida coast the died down to 1-2’ swells after 10 miles. Then almost smooth for the second half of the trip. Gulf Current helped make good time but motored the last 15 miles so we didn’t overshoot Bimini. Sailing was close hulled all the way. Arrived just before sunset!

Ft Myers to Rodriguez Key

Very nice sailing in the first 12 hours and then no wind. Did motoring through Seven Mile Bridge to Rodriguez Key to beat some high winds and pressure the engine before leaving for the Bahamas. Everything is working good!
