We tried to anchor near Pine Island Loop, but it was too shallow. Went down the Tolomato River a ways to another anchorage but the anchor chain would not release, the tension on the chain popped the gypsy off so we pulled up what little anchor there was and continued on for a bit. Found an anchorage near the Windward Marina at Camachee Cove to wait for the tide to rise so we can get into the marina.

Today was the first day that laura and Diana and I went out to practice in preparation for the women’s winter invitational in San Diego. We practice tacking jibing and sales trim while the whales converted about including a young humpback whale that actually jumped out of the water. Absolutely perfect condition and we learned a lot, especially the choreography needed to make fast and efficient tax. Dan came along just to help out since our fourth crewmember. Mandy is in San Diego right now. We also changed the head sale on cutlass to a smaller Genoa to more closely mimic the J 22’s. We’re going to be using in the race. It was a real learning experience, changing out the sail.
