I began sailing at age 50 on a Hobie Wave when on vacation in Cancun. I bought a used Hobie Getaway for our small small lake where my parents live. I was alerted to some of the sailing channels on YouTube by a patient and began to watch way too much of that not to try it. We booked our first vacation in 2023 with Navigare out of Marsh Harbour for 5 days. Captain Marquis Knowles made the trip a fantastic success and my wife was hooked as well. Now I’m learning with NauticEd and captain Bradley

NauticEdApp failed to start. We started the day with dinghy trouble after rain. See last log Gave up on dinghy and motored to Spoil Cay and around Whale Cay though the cut. Anchored outside New Plymouth and got dinghy going eventually. Water in fuel? Lunch st The Wrecking Tree. Awesome cracked conch and lobster. Amazing. Sailed in stormy weather through Whale Cay Cut and around Whale Cay— see pics. Dropped sails near the pilings for old Disney Cruise line area and Spoil Cay. Anchored past Baker’s Bay off Big Joes Point. 7-8 ft water. 60-70 ft chain. Wind from north now. Should swing toward west by 1 am.

Logger Head Creek to Great Guana Cay, Bahamas
Left Grabbers area after lunch Raised sail on anchor. All sailing to Water Cay. No problems. Great sunshine. Great views. Favorite afternoon. Anchored in 7-8 ft with 60+ ft of chain. Did not get there in time for campfire at Water Cay but would’ve worked. Wind picked up and swung us around. Rained hard and dinghy wouldn’t start to look at the area better in the morning. Tried about 30 minutes and left.

Great Guana Cay to Archers Cay, Bahamas
Left Matt Lowe’s cay without problems. Sail went up pretty easy (tail of new sail bag caught). Good sail to the Scotland Lagoon. First anchor attempt seemed to slip. Second much better. Dinghy ran well. Walked on beach. Anchor lifted two cables of some sort. Able to get them to release and moved on. Karmen was alert. Then motored to Grabbers for anchor and lunch.
