Plymouth

Former Royal Naval Diving Officer. Left in 2000 after 16 years. The remainder of my working life has been helping people with technology. Alongside that, I have spent 15 years in the CCF (Combined Cadet Force), teaching years 10-14 cruising sailing as a mate and powerboating as instructor. I have owned a Drascombe Lugger for 15 years. Started getting adventurous with her sleeping overnight etc and soon realised I needed something else. I now own a Hunter Horizon 232

Return from Hunter Rally

Left about 1030 came out of the corner and was instantly presented with a force five from the Northeast which was fantastic. I thought I’d be home by lunchtime. Of course it only lasted an hour and then it came back round to an easily and reduced in force so I was able to continue to sail but was going diagonally across thebay even with the engine assisting. Once I got past blue Island, I was unable to come close in Shaw with a lot of beating and a lot of patience, I finally got home.

Hunter Association SW rally

Great sail for most of the time until I needed tiger to my destination then it all came down and the engine got me there. Multiple configuration of Scooper with pole without and even a calm successful gybe

Return to SPBA

Much less impressive than yesterday. No wind to speak of and somewhat fragile after a bit too much scotch!

Yealm YC RNSA launch dinner

Great sail 4/5 with seas to match. Anchored in calm waters at Jennycliff to turn the gooseneck the right way round so as to be able to attach the reffing crinkle. Made the sail much more comfortable with a reef in. Needed a second reef once out in open water. She went well and it was a great sail.

Trip round the Sound

A lovely day for a shakedown cruise after being laid up all winter. All went well no problems at all.

Day sail with Dom and Norm. 19 Mrs, reefed initially, then subsided after anchoring for lunch. Grey day all in all, but fun

Day sail up the Hamoaze

Not a bad sail, got a bit hairy at the end when it whipped up to a F7. Went ashore for some lunch till it blew through.
