James and Daisy left us to return to st Marlo destined for the Brittany ferry tomorrow. We Left Roscoff at 9 am through the ile de Bahat channel. Motored as no wind. The repeater playing up at the channel du four. As the tide built through the channel du four it became rougher. Rick took over from the auto helm, we did an involuntary gybe - the wire to the outhaul broke. Rick made an emergency repair using the rope from the third reef and another blue line. We arrived in Camaret at 18.00 and after refuelling had supper at anchor next to Lionel Hoare ‘s yacht

The Eaton’s left us on the 13th June whilst Jibbs and girlfriend Daisy joined us having taken the over night Brittany ferry from uk to st Marlo then Taxi to St Cast. We had a lay day doing some reprovisions and ended the day at a good fish restaurant in The port with heavy thunderstorms. On the 14th we sailed with one reef in until 10am when we took the reef out. Daisy was given her first taste of sailing and seemed keen to learn. Moored up In Treguier Marina dining ashore having walked up up the old city to view the church . On the 15 June we left Treguier at 9.00 and sailed with one reef in beating our way to Roscoff. We moored up In Roscoff Marina with 10 knots of currant under us making docking tricky. We walked to the old town and had dinner at the cafe du port.

We motored to ils des Hebihens having left the lock at st Marlo at 9.30am. We were invited onto the private island by Jerry ( very good sailor) and Isabelle Trentesaux. Drinks were had in the tower built by Vaughan oysters and champagne served. BBQ in the garden afterwards. I went back to the boat early to find the boat had drifted out to sea, managed to hold her back in position. Had a lovely Sail to Cast after lunch. Left seaview on Friday 30 May - diverted to Southampton to collect new batteries and life raft plus new John boy for the boat before motoring to the Hamble to pick up Angus Prentice. Lucia his wife couldn’t join that night as looking after her dog. After giving Susie and Tom Patridge tea we changed and had a bbq at the royal southern yacht club with other members from the Rtyc on the spring excuse. The food had run out by the time we were served so disappointing. On Saturday 31st once the fog had cleared we did a navigational exercise with other Rtyc yachts and some international council of yacht clubs - the commodore of the royal southern getting line honours and Peter Bainbridge winning yet again. We did get our nav a little wrong and ended up touching the bramble bank ( was noted by others). Having united with Lucia in beaulieu river The evening was spent at sir Keith and Maureen mills house where they hosted a hog roast. On the Sunday we faced winds of 34 knots and bumped our way to lymington where we dined at the royal lymington yacht club with other IOcYC members. I sat next to Ron Holbrooke and wife Jan ( he was commodore of the Seattle yacht club) and to my right was Michael Gayner ( Rtyc) a nervous sailor on cruising committee for Rtyc. Departed lymington at 5.30 am and sailed/ motored to guernsey arriving 8pm at St Peter’s port Tuesday was wet snd windy. Wednesday we were hosted at Chris and Tory Russell house cold meats and cheese followed by boules. Then sailed to jersey arriving at 20.00. Thursday laundry at Mike’s house, louise cooked us rack of lamb ( tough). Tea with Diane.
