Wind NE 10-15kn gusty and variable Boat going well 5-6kn, learning to trim the big genoa Sailing with Saffron learning to sail Good fun day

Low levels of wind sometimes dropping to no wind, 5-8 knots when it did get going. Sea was flat and calm. Boat needs a clean after winter, window reseal seems to be good no leaks so far. Were planning to go to Yealm head but turned round early due to the slow pace.

Is everything still working okay after the winter? Autohelm was completely useless had to lash the tiller whilst winching sails etc Need to calibrate the autohelm next time, which involves going round and round in circles so that should be fun! Sailed towing the dinghy and outboard was not raised, in the water the whole time, plus bottom needs a scrub. 10kn wind WNW 12-15degC Sunny

9-14degC 10kn wind E Engine was being useless, crapped out just after leaving the mooring. Almost aborted sail and accepted a tow back to mooring, but one last go at the engine got it sorted and we had a good sail

7-8kn wind S 14-15degC Pleasant trip, light winds only had the Jib up. Probably should have got some more sail up on the way back, but everyone enjoying the relaxed pace.

8kn WSW 13degC Time for a quick evening sail with Saffron before the winter weather arrives.

12kn E 21deg C sunny Fun sail with inexperienced crew. Beautiful summers day showing off Plymouth sound at its best to our visitors. The cursed outboard that has just been serviced for £300 still played up. Had to anchor in Jennycliff bay to get it restarted almost took a hammer to it!

11kn wind WSW 16degC cloudy Fun sail got some good speed out of the boat at times. Only main and jib.

First trip on Kestrel. Lost the original track recreated gpx. Towed the dinghy Trip down the Tamar at high water Calstock on the ebbing tide. Zoe, Ianthe and Zeus the dog onboard. Pleased with how she sails, outboard was unreliable and a bit rubbish. Track doesn't show it, went through the bridge channel west of drakes island and did a bigger loop in the sound. One hairy moment trying to get the jib up and discovering it wasn't on right spinning us round in a circle whilst I pulled it back down Got on the trot while it was still light.
