Pulau Boo Lagoon to Frigate Island

We navigated the hectic exit from the Lagoon at high tide and popped around to another little island in the Boo Island group. After some days of researching we have finalised our route SW, which is a relief. Tomorrow we will set off early and get to our next location ready for Christmas.

Pulau Deer to Pulau Boo

Another day of motoring to the very beautiful Boo Island. We were hit with a few thunderstorms, and dodged the usual log, but arrived safely. The entrance is a little sketchy, as it is narrow and lined with bommies. We got to .7m at one stage, and needless to say I was feeling sick to my stomach. I think we will make sure it is the top of the high when we exit. Here’s to a few days of relaxing and preparing for Christmas on the water.

Batanta SW to Pulau Kofiau

Big day of motoring and dodging logs. We have finally arrived at our second last anchorage before the place we intend to spend Christmas. There’s a lovely village that lines this bay, with what appears to be very well put together houses and a telecommunication tower. Just an overnight stop for us and back on the move first thing tomorrow.

Pulau Ayemi to SW Batanta

Left our friends behind this morning to continue our journey SW. We decided to take the road less travelled and go via the South side of Batanta Island. We had random wind, lots of logs (which has been everywhere over here) but we also had a lot of current finally in our favour. So we bypassed our original anchorage and headed further along Batanta. We ducked into a quiet bay with beautiful jungle like hills reaching right down to a sort of muddy bottom. Should be good holding and no overnight visitors here. Tomorrow we have a fairly big jump across to an island to get us one stop away from our Christmas destination. Fingers crossed for some wind.

Sorong to Pulau Ayemi

The Journey SW has commenced. After too many days in Sorong we were ready to get moving and get away from the hustle and bustle. Super excited to see what this next part of our adventure holds.

North Birie, Batanta to Sorong

We actually sailed most of the way today, albeit a little slow, but we were in no hurry to get here as our Marina Berth that we booked was no longer available, so we are out on anchor. We will go get some dinner, dump the rubbish, get some Red Bulls as I will be on security detail tonight. Apparently a lot of issues with boats being boarded and things stolen. Happy Days, hahaha. Off to refuel tomorrow and get some provisions and Xmas presents and we are out of here.

Manyaifun to North Birie Island, Batanta

Had a late start today as it was pouring rain when we woke. We are not that excited about this leg or the journey as we are simply heading back to get some fuel before starting the big and exciting trek across to the Western side of Indonesia. We landed here at what appears to be an abandon resort, but it looks like it would have been a bit fancy back in the day.

Wayag to Minyaifun

Heading back to refuel before we begin our journey SW. Will be a long and not as exciting journey as it has been so far. However we are leaving long forward to getting over to see some of the other amazing things this Country has to offer.

Pulau Kawe to Wayag

We finally made it to the gorgeous Wayag, and it feels like we have the place to ourselves. We have purchased our passes and set our anchor in a cute little bay. One stern like on just for fun. Plenty of pictures to follow.

Pulau Manyaifun to Pulau Kawe

Had an interesting motor sail to our new anchorage. We are trying to get to Wayag to relax for a week or two and have been moving most days. So we set off in the morning, but the currents were so hectic we were doing about 2 knots with both engines on at one stage. So we detoured to Pulau Kawe and thought we had found a perfect anchorage only to get in and realise the information was incorrect and it was far too deep for us to comfortably anchor in. So we set off again to around the corner to find a new and shallower spot, which we did thankfully. Unfortunately we ended up having a boat full of about 10 men approach us on dusk telling us to leave. Hudson and I poked our heads out and she gave them big waves and smiles and they seemed to calm down and let us stay for the night. So anyway, we are bailing first thing in the morning.
