Marine Diesel Mechanic ASA Sailing Instructor Sean picked up sailing in 2018 after crewing as “bio-ballast” onboard a Bahamian sloop. He began taking ASA courses and quickly ended up with a job at a sailing club north of Atlanta. What started as a hobby has become a full-time job as a diesel mechanic and all-around sailboat bosun for the club’s fleet. Sean and his wife own the historic sailing yawl, Burgoo [the first fiberglass boat, and the smallest boat, to win the Newport/Bermuda race].

Great conditions. Pretty wakey, but a hard fought battle with the light air was won.

Surprisingly pleasant! Steady(ish) 7-12kts and little wake from our friends of the Iron Lady. David had a really great class.

Light winds. 5-7kts Sunny skies We talked shop, boat systems, safety briefings, did some docking maneuvers, anchored for lunch, and sailed for the rest of the day! Really laid back with a knowledgeable crew.
