Looking for some bouys?

Nice day of sailing, weather predicted wind from SE, 8kn climbing to 15. So we hanked on the Geneua, First bouy was suppose to be down wind, so only raised the headsail. But on way to mark wind was a little squirrel so raiser mail to help dump air into the headsail. This helped i think. Could not find bouy, so we sailed on to second one. Note on sailing to windward the wind shifted more to the east, and the boats up wind pointing proformancrcis was poor. Took over helm. Got to think pointing up issue is because the poor state of sails. As I believe the sails were trimed as best as they could be. It can be seen on one tack we pointed up a few more degrees, after moving the head sail car back on their tracks. Wind speed steady increased to about 15kns. Nice thing was main aread had single reef tied in for last time out. This was good as we had the big head sail up, and with wind gust over 15kns we would have been way over powered. Even still, following one tack put rail in water, with Mike on lower side of boat, laying on seat trying to stay in boat, and still trim sail after the tack. When we also hit a wave the came over the high side and soaked us both.. Never found second bouy either. On returning to the bay, the heading was fast and fun. It was a just a little off the wind, but almost a broad reach at times. Waves were pushing the boat, from about 8 o:clock, and the little surfing was fun, as they made the boat a little more squirrel the if they were further from aft. Had a good day, weather prediction was basically right on, other that the higher gusts and the north part of the east winds. Going back to the pointing up maybe it has some thing to do with the mast tuning something I need to. look into

Liz went out, phone died whole trip not recorded.

.Liz can get nerves easy. So we set the small head sail, and reefed main before going out. Once out to lake and we seemed under powered. So we shooked out main just in time for gust to start, about 3 hours early from NOAA report. These gust scared Lis. And resonable so as they also brought white caps. Gust that came up shifted from normally 10 knots to 20 knots. So I heave to and had Mike put reef back in. we the continued to sail. and although the boat was well under control, the gusts, heeling and increase in boat speed was causing issue for Lis. (Phone died and stopped recording somewher around this point in time.) Turned boat and head back to releave Liz's stress. Was good sailing but felt bad for scaring Liz.

Hoping for a gusty day to do some sail trim train

Sailed with Mike. Was hoping for some 10 knot wind changes, 13 to 23. Winds were more like 9 to 14 for most of sail. Ran under jib and reefed main sail. Had a good time. Waves were running at a nice 4 second period. Again today I cound not point as high as i would have liked. Still neede to determine way. After multiple tacks to wind ward. A dark cloud rolled in, a wind and gust increased to the predicted levels. We turned and ran with the waves back to bay. On this heading GPS had boat speed in the high 7 mph range. Boat was surfing down the waves. Did not reduce the sails, at time boat wanted to turn up even form a run. Keep jib hid behind main. If we had a lot longer down wind run to make, under these conditions, or worst, I would have taken time to dropped the main. All in all it was a fun afternoon of sailing.

Easy Day Sail

Nice little Sunday sail. Took Mike and Tara Blue skies, ~70F. Winds out on north, moving to out of the west. About 6 knot, run the genoa, and full main. Wave less than a foot, with roller of about 2 feet. Either old sails, or weak winds and the rolling waves prevented for pointing up higher to the wind.
