Excellent sailing conditions but unfortunately, crew member didn't feel good, so trip out around the bay was cancelled. Westerly force 4 wind, on a calm sea, made for perfect conditions. Full sails deployed but just as we were on a beam reach, the crew member said she didn't feel good. Always better to stay safe and there will always be another day!

Arklow, Ireland
Today's sail to bring Windswept from Dùn Laoghaire to my home port of Arklow. In a Northerly breeze blowing a Bft 4, and an ebbing tide, this trip turned out a fast run albeit in a moderate sea. Being solo with no crew today, and on a running sail direction, I decided to motor all the way. Glorious sunshine and not too cold either, the trip was enjoyable.

Dún Laoghaire to Arklow, Ireland
In a moderate sea with a north bft 3 wind, we sailed from Malahide to Dùn Laoghaire. Under motor out of the scenic lagoon, we soon passed Ireland's Eye and the infamous Bailey Lighthouse on Howth Head. Our views included two small porpoises, seals and plenty of gannets. Following protocols, we contacted Dublin Port VTS by radio to cross the busy channel and avoided the James Joyce Car Ferry. Soon after, we were dodging the various club racing courses to enter Dùn Laoghaire Harbour and mooring close to the marina facilities. Our 14nm trip took just over three hours.

Malahide to Dún Laoghaire, Ireland
Short sail from Dùn Laoghaire Marina to Malahide Marina. Mixed weather with sunshine and drizzle. Little or no wind, so motor sailed with genoa up.
