Winds 10 kt gust 16 kt, South. Forecast to settle 10 kt S. Sea state light chop (protected).
Decided to head out for year end sail.
Main $ Jib north to Punk Island.
Practiced some controlled jibes, wing on wing, tacks, reefing, and heaving-to. Eva took helm and ‘skippered’ for a bit.
Hauled nicely upwind with protection from shore on the way back in.

Last sail of 2024!

Winds moderate to breezy became gusty later in the morning. Predominately East-Northeast.
Sea state 0.6-0.9m waves.
Broad reaching with Genoa only most of the way until tight channel required many tacks and geology forcing wind straight down the middle made winds and waves formidable - decided to motor last 30 mins instead.

Winds moderate predominantly northwest.
Sea state choppy until protected on lee side of black island.
Nice protected bay for anchoring.

Hugo

Predominantly light winds. Gust to 14. Variable directions.
Sailed main/genoa/ spinnaker and later dropped all and just reefed main to remain slow through islands.
Entrance is shallow (~7’) at normal lake level but beautiful spot!!

Logbook Summary July 2020-July 2024 local sails

After a nice bonfire and beers we decided to finish the sail to Gull Harbour with all 4 of us. Nice calm broad reach sail with spinnaker.

Made a sail plan based on wind forecast and was completely wrong.
Mostly light winds out of NE.
Spent most of the day tacking and sail-trolling (caught nothing). Beers were had.
Decided to divert to Hecla Village Harbour where outside the harbour we snagged an old fish net line in the prop!!! Motor stalled but luckily we did not shear the pin - was able to cut line and continue.
Despite the toughest sail yet, after a nice dinner, good news was spread and beers were had (again) around a campsite fire that night.

Perfection
Winds 7-10 kt, West. Sea state calm.
Beam reaching the entire trip at hull speed using Main and Genoa.
Cannot ask for better conditions.

Very light winds and variable until 9:00am, then north 3-4kt winds. Sea state mirror calm to calm.
