ASAAfter an exciting day of sailing from the Bahamas and into the Gulf Stream, we finally pointed North and started really cruising with 8.9-9.2 kn in the Gulf Stream. Averaging 3 kn of current, and with the motor on, it felt fast and smooth. Wind is light, 2.5 - 3.5kn Josh suggested I should try sleeping on watch to get the fell of what it is like to be solo. I couldn’t really do that until much later, 10pm. At that time I had been up for 16 hrs straight. There’s so much to see, I want to soak it in. Sleeping and you might miss something really cool. I slept well though. About 6 hours of sleep which feels kind of normal in relation to 3 on, 3 off. I’ve learned a lot with Josh’s teaching style which I will apply to my own. It is humbling to be a learner. I’m so many aspects of my life, I would be viewed as a master or pro, but not here. I am constantly taking it in and listening regardless of the delivery. Something I’ve become aware of during this journey.

Big day full of different weather. Mostly storm clouds off the Grand Bahama created weather, black clouds, Wood, lightning and rain for most of the day. Point of sale broad reach to running to beam as we made our way into the early evening. After the sun came out around 3pm turn into some really good sailing with 6 to 8 months on a beam reach. I took over the sailing from about 12 PM to 6 PM. We entered the golf stream around 5 PM and a speed went up to 9.2 kn motoring

Went to bed at Midnight. Night shift was over. Took a Dramamine right before bed and didn’t kick in until about 1am but after that slept well. Nothing eventful happened during the watch. Jib was furled in due to the run pos. COG was low throughout the night. 5.0 to 5.5 kts Woke up at 6am to start my day shift. We put the jib out full, turned 10 degrees STBD for a beam to broad reach run

Left Laynard Cay with gorgeous calm turquoise blue water and calm seas. We made our way to the cut and the sea state changed with the oncoming storm in the Atlantic. Beating into the wind, we quickly got over powered, 12 kts to 30 in 20 min. Furled the Jib, furled the main quickly and turned to a STBD beam to make our way around the Bahamas. Beautiful sailing for the rest of the day intermittent storm kept popping up, but nothing that was too threatening. Sailed In the evening. Little bit of a tough point of sale because the jib kept luffing on the run. STBD gyb to port gyb was way better pos into the night. Beautiful starry and smooth sailing. Storms off the port now in the distance gave a nice show. Little Harbor sails smoothly! Around midnight, I went to bed

Looking at the wind, decided to head out for an afternoon sail with the rising wind value to 5.2 kn from 3kn with gust 5.8, I could feel it building in the harbor. Motored out to the outer buoyed area, and it was rather difficult making the first port tack, heading into the northeast wind, then starboard was the perfect point of sail. The rest of the day was a great time! Felt super clicked in and dialed in 2nd best.

After a blustery Monday 10-15kn at the lake, too rough to solo, headed back out Tuesday around 9am - sailed from 9:45 - 1:00 ish. Lots of putting it all together with shifty and gusty winds 5-6.5k with gust to 9kn. Wind was switching from NE to W and dropping towards the end. Super fun day.

First hot snap of the season with temperatures over 90° blessed with some afternoon breeze 2.5kn to 6.5kn back to 2.0k. from NE 1:30-5:30. Took Amoz and Noah out for the first time on the great Salt Lake super fun crew and they got to learn a lot. This was the real for a sailing day of my spring so grateful I got one in because I’m leaving for Maine next week. More storms and rain on the way with 11 kn to 14 kn. Should be interesting to see what Monday and Tuesday look like.

Decided to go out against my intuition and that the wind was gonna change and sure enough it did. It was blowing north West, and then switched to Southwest. Decided to go and call today seeing if it was a late start.
