Perfect day for a sail! The temps were in the low 70s and the wind was around 8-10 knots. No clouds in the sky. It made for a great, relaxing cruise. It was fun to share the time with the Taylors!

Long day on the water. We started at 8am in Palerios and ended in Lefkada! We motored out and the wind was heavy with just up to 30 knots out the east.

We were hoping to anchor in Porto Leone and hike up to the church, but the easterly winds made anchoring in the marina unsafe. 

So, we motored around, took some pics and headed out. It was the best choice because we were able to spend the rest of the day on a beam reach to board reach running with just the jib! The  boat made great speed and we covered ground quickly on a relaxing point of sail.

This was my favorite sailing day of all! We ended with a motor cruise around the Vahalko Bay. The. It was back to Lefkada to refuel and dock.

I had to squeeze the cat better two other cats side-to and I pulled it off without a hit hitch. It was an amazing way to end our cruise!

Greece Day #6 - Palerios to Porto Leone to Lefkada

Today was our best sailing day. We had 10 to 15 knot winds out of the south east. 

We started the morning in our anchorage with a beautiful sunrise and a wonderful breakfast made by Craig. We got underway around 10 AM and set sail to Porto Leone. 

We had some struggles getting the main sheet up at the beginning due to some issues with the reefing lines and bigger than usual waves for the crew once. We were able to get the main sail up and sail along a nice clip. We actually hit 8 knots  of wind along the way, but unfortunately the wind ran out right and we weren’t able to make it all the way to Porto Leone. So, we dropped our sails. Changed course and headed to Palairos for the evening.

We dropped our anchor and relaxed for a bit until the flotilla dinghy races began. Craig and Jeff represented us in the race.

It was an awesome day!

Greece Day #5 - Afales Bay to Palerios

Perfect sailing day! The winds hit around 13 knots and we were able to easily make our destination with only a few tacks. We spent the entire afternoon in Afales Bay and decided to stay the night. Craig and Roxy prepared a wonderful meal for everyone! We hung out under the stars before bed. It was truly a perfect day.

Greece Day #4 - Sivatha to Afales Bay

We had a short sailing day because we had to get from Fiskardo at 2p across to Sivota by 5p. The winds were very light when we started our sail between Kefalonia and Ithaca, but improved once we got away from the land masses and into the middle portion of the sea. We sailed for about 90 minutes and motored the rest of the way.

The slip at the marina for our cat was challenging to get into. I had to go in bow first and then rotate the entire boat in place 360 degrees to back it in. I was able to pull it off and everyone was watching me waiting for an accident 😳😅

The winds Rea Jane’s light today and it has been this way most of our trip. However, everyone has enjoyed the laid back sailing and boat time!

Greece Day #2 - Little Vathy to Fiskardo

5-10 knots. Perfect day for our first day sailing in the Ionian. We performed an anchorage in Abelike Bay and swam. We the. Motored to Little Vathy to perform a Med Mooring. We pulled it off on our first try!

Greece Day #1 - Lefkada to Little Vathi

A beautiful day for sailing. The wind was low and out of the northwest. The temps were perfect and the skies were mostly clear. 

This was a day for catamaran training on a big cat, a Lagoon 45, resting in Kemah Boardwalk Marina. 

The purpose of the trip was to re-familiarize me and Meg with sailing a big cat and introduce Jeff and Lalania Taylor to sailing in a big cat. 

Meg and Jeff were a big help and Lalania took it all in and enjoyed the sail. We started by motoring out of the very tight slip and Kemah Boardwalk Marina into the ship channel leading to Galveston Bay. We practiced bringing the main sail and jib up, reefing the main, anchoring and even sailed with a Code 0.

Our trainer and the boat’s owner and captain was on board for the entire journey, giving us tips and pointers as my crew and I commanded the boat.

We returned back to the marina after a full afternoon of training and I successfully motored the cat back into its slip in the marina. 

Catamaran Training in Kemah

Windy day! Gusts up to 25 knots with sustained 15-20 knots. Started out with reefed main and then added reefed jib. Pulled in jib and went with full main for last 1/3 of trip. Great day to work on sailing in heavier winds. 

Had Jeff Taylor on board and it was his second time sailing. He did great and ended up manning the wheel for the last 90 mins of the trip.

Wind reminded me how much weather helm this boat has.

Windy Day

The conditions were clear and there was a nice 8-10 knot wind out of the N to NE. We had Jeff and Lalania Taylor with us on the cruise. It was their first time sailing and they enjoyed it. They were eager to learn all about sailing and both of them manned the helm and worked the sheets. Megan also sailed quite a bit. She wanted to get back in the mode of sailing and not just being crew. It was an enjoyable afternoon with temps in the mid 80s and partly cloudy.
