Arrived at the boat, couldn’t see the lock for fog. Sitting having a cup of tea and suddenly… let’s go for a quick motor! Ended up being a lovely gentle downwind sail back up the river for a couple of hours - could have been spring!

Well that was a tough day! From benign no wind, to thunderstorms that we could dodge, to local winds in excess of 30 knots at times with 3m seas forcing us to slow right down. What an endurance today was!

First couple of hours were a nice 15kts of wind behind us, cruised across to Southend under genoa only. Then upwind all the way home, 8kts under a reefed genoa only! Quite remarkable!
