Started the day with heaving rain that came through in the morning. Delayed our launch time. Once we were able to cast off weather was pleasant and allowed for us to sail consistently throughout the day. Practiced sailing under wind power, tacking, gybing, heave to, man overboard utilizing a grappling hook, how to cast a lifeline, ATONS recognition, anchoring in 10 feet of water, docking and undocking from a u slip. Wear sunscreen!

Practiced leaving the slip with me at the helm utilizing the slip lines to keep the boat close to the pylons utilizing the boats natural prop walk. Upon leaving the marina we began practicing approaching a parallel dock such as a fuel dock on the far and close pylons. At that point we picked up Jim the student instructor. Afterwards had lunch and left the marina for the LC navigation beacon where the wind was gusting enough to put up the sails. We put of the sails and practiced a heave to, and man overboard using a figure 8 pattern. Noted that it took over 8 minutes to get to man overboard due to wind condition. We practiced reefing the main and attempted to do a wing on wing maneuver but the wind was not sufficient. We returned to the dock circa 1645 where I took the helm and under instruction brought us into the slip using a dock line as a spring line. No major issues to report on the boat.

No wind, unable to sail but practiced docking, undocking, attached to mooring ball, reversing at low and high rpm’s, turning in place and longer distance motoring.

It was cloudy and overcast with wind out of the north west with temperature at 45 degrees Fahrenheit. The wind was at our back which helped us from freezing much. A race was going on outside of Annapolis harbor which had somewhere near 20-30 sailboats competing. Trip was motoring the entire time. We arrived in Safe Harbor Eastport Marina and had trouble docking the boat. Need to return with new docking lines and fix docking lines.
