17-23 knots double-reefed Had to manually raise anchor. Electric windlass broken. Saw humpbacks. About 150 feet off port. One breached. Paul drank coke on the morning sun then suffered when the wind and waves. picked up. Docked at NYC for night for repairs.

Saw whales, possibly larger with smaller humpback whale, in strong wind. Visited Jedediah Island. Reached Hornby just before sunset. Windlass failed. Manually lowered the hook just before darkness set in. Excellent BBQed smokies and salad dinner!
