Hamilton Island Race Week, day 1 - interesting very blustery conditions at times. Unfortunately we retired from the race. 1 whale sighted and 1 turtle. Day 2 tomorrow, let's go.

Motorsail from Airlie Beach to Hamilton Island for 2026 HI Race Week. A long afternoon with tide and wind against us, but we finally made it, albeit rather late and tired. Now getting ready for race week.

Great day sailing in Mooloolaba Bay Qld. With Diane, Michael and Shane. Weather 22 to 30 Celsius, easterly 10 to 15 knots, seas around 1 metre, swell easterly around 1 metres. Joined by a large pod of dolphins. Such a treat.

Part 2 of the City to Surf Race Saturday 7th February 2026. Great Race. With an interesting finish into Cabbage Tree Creek, Shorncliff just after sunset and not ever been there before. A bit tricky!

Surf to City Yacht Race, from the Gold Coast Qld to Shorncliffe Qld in Moreton Bay via the inside passage. A long day sailing with mainly an easterly breeze which meant reaching or running most of the way. Some intteresting gusts at different times on the course. My watch gave up the ghost and started to auto save, hence why I have part 1 and 2, also missed recording the heavy tacking part of the race. Weather was lovely and clear, which made for good sailing conditions. The wind was SE, ESE to mainly E from 8 to 13 knots at times with some heavier gusts. then in Moreton Bay turing from E to ENE. It was a great day racing, it is always good crewing with Michael.

Great day on the water, started slow not much wind. Ran the code 0 for 3 of the legs but on the 4th had to change to the headsail. Weather 10 to 15 knots north-easterly then tuning to a northerly seas below 1 metre, swell 1 to 1.5 metres. Saw a turtle, a shark maybe 1.5 metres or a bit more and solo and pod of dolphins 🐬. Course 21R All in all, a great day on the water. 8 yachts entered, we were 6th across the line and 2nd on handicap. Great result, we are the smallest boat in the fleet.
