Completed several ASA courses and sailed in the Caribbean and delivered sail boat from Sint Maarten to the USA via the Atlantic route east and north of the Bahamas.

Easterly trade winds mostly of 10 to 15 knots, gusting to 20. Verily little motoring. A few squalls along the way with mostly following seas. Max wave height reached 6 feet. There was one day with heavy rain and thunderstorms with wind speed reaching 35 knots. Lots of wing on wing sailing with preventer and spinnaker pole on the jib. Stopped for two days in Luperon, DR to resupply. Entered the Gulf Stream near Miami. I cooked a few times some delicious meals.

Calm seas, wind from the east or northeast, wind speed between 5 to 10 knots, gusting to 15. One day it was gusting to 20 with steady winds of 15 upwind. Completed courses ASA105 and ASA106. We practiced docking, anchoring and tying to a buoy.

Sailed around the islands of St Thomas and St John while anchoring or tying to a buoy, including Cruz Bay, Frances Bsy, Coral Bay, Christmas Cove, Buck Island, Water Island, Magen’s Bay and Coki Beach before returning to the Ref Hook Marina. Assumed position of helmsman, tactician, crew, captain, lookout. Temperatures ranged from 75F at night to 85F during the day with winds between 10 to 25 knots, gusting to 35 knots on some days. Light rain showers once a day, mostly sunny. Many great sandy beaches with swimming and great snorkelling at Buck Island. Very nice beach at Coki Point. Issues encountered during our voyage: rope burn, motor non-start, battery dead.
