After 7 days exploring the Dublin area, which include touching the statue of Molly Mallon for luck. As you can see from the picture you seem to get double lucky touches. We made our 1st passage of leg 6 to Carlingford. With a brisket wind of mid to late 20 knots we made good speed. Leaving as the sun rowse. The dog leg in the track is a course change made to miss some rain which worked well. We berthed in the small marina near Carlingford and prepared to sit out the even higher wind forecast for tomorrow.

Breezy and shifting winds E an SE 6-8kts with gusts to 10kts. Relatively flat at the moorings but long 2m swell from the west out past the headland. We had a problem with chafe at the mooring where the line jambed under the main mooring ball shackle and nearly chafed through. So we cut our sail short and spent time rigging a temp mooring penants and a safety backup.

Sailing with Sovereign Sailing, skipper Mike Hines. Heavy winds and seas, tidal race near Old Head and hit by big wave that heeled hard and broached. Bore away to beam reach and away from Overfall.

Heavy winds, seas not as big as first day. Tacked out, motored around Old Head to see lighthouse and cliff caves.

Downwind sail, 2 reefs in main and 10 ft of jib unfurled. Mike along as instructor

return trip from Oyster Haven to Kinsale SW winds (parallel to the coast) at 19 kn and gusts 28. Some tacking and later some motor sailing to pass inside of Bulman Rock buoy. Skipper Mike Hines along for local knowledge

Anchored in Sandy Cove. anchor kept dragging, tested Anchor Alarm on Savvy Navvy which worked well. Saw a seal, terns, and kittiwakes, and Red Kites riding the air currents. Sailed back on jib only.

MOB practice, very brisk conditions in the ocean so we tacked into Sandy Cove and practiced dropping anchor, which dragged the first time.
