After a fraught start due to dragging anchor, the spring mooring line was not stowed and wrapped around the prop killing the engine. We chose to continue to race, but what should have been good conditions (choppy 1m waves, 15kn wind with 25kn gusts) for our boat turned out quite difficult with poor speed into the wind and an overpowered headsail (main was in first reef). After finishing the race, with a last place time of 3 hours we continued to dromineer and sailed onto the marina. A tough day, but highlighted several issues both with preperation, leaving the dock and equipment let downs.

Wind was westerly veering south westerly 10 to 20 knots. Sailing north to just beyond Illaunmore with westerly winds gave a fast broad reach. The initial average speed was reading 6 knots, not too far off the max hull speed. On the return leg the shifting wind meant a close haul back to Garrykennedy. Cooler conditions and more choppy waters made the chowder and tasty food in Larkins all the better.

A great afternoon sail in light winds and bright, clear skys. We sailed close hauled tacking twice to Castlelough head and then had a great sun with some goosewing sailing back to Garrykennedy.

Crew on board Eliminator for the 45th Gortmore Bell. Wet and gusty conditions all day. Sailed w then n, nw with spinnaker then wet and windy beating back to finish. An exciting finish to Echo Standard Winner, second in our class, and third overall.
