The RYA Cruising Level 1 – Start Sailing Course is designed for complete novices who wish to explore the exciting world of sailing. This short yet comprehensive course provides hands-on experience and foundational skills for handling a yacht under power. With no prior experience required, it is an excellent opportunity to gain confidence, learn essential yacht handling techniques, and enjoy the thrill of sailing in the serene waters of Manila Bay. By the end of this 2-day, 16-hour course, you’ll have: Learned basic yacht handling techniques. Steered a yacht upwind and downwind. Gained an understanding of safety procedures. Learned to tie essential maritime knots: Figure of Eight, Round Turn and Two Half Hitches, and Bowline.

Day 1 The course takes place in Manila Bay, offering calm waters and consistent winds, perfect for first-time sailors. The sheltered bay provides an excellent environment to practice steering, sail handling, and safety procedures without the challenges of open seas.
