This rare and remarkable 1,300-nautical-mile expedition crosses two of the world’s most significant invisible lines: the Equator and the International Date Line. Departing Tahiti, SV Sea Dragon heads north into remote Central Pacific waters, bound for the far-flung atoll of Kiritimati. En route, we may sight or approach isolated islands such as Caroline, Starbuck, and Malden—remote specks in a vast ocean landscape. The crossing of the Equator is traditionally marked with ceremony at sea, while traversing the Date Line delivers the unique experience of adjusting not just your clock, but your calendar. This is true expedition sailing—remote, committing, and deeply rewarding—culminating in landfall at one of the largest coral atolls in the world.
