This is ocean sailing in its purest form. Departing the Galápagos Islands, SV Sea Dragon sets a westerly course for the remote Marquesas, embarking on a 3,300-nautical-mile trans-Pacific passage that defines true bluewater adventure. For nearly a month, the horizon stretches unbroken in every direction. Trade winds fill the sails, flying fish scatter at the bow, and life aboard settles into the timeless rhythm of watch rotations, shared meals, and star-filled nights. This passage offers the rare opportunity to disconnect from land entirely and experience the immensity of the Pacific Ocean. Landfall in the Marquesas is unforgettable. After weeks at sea, the lush volcanic cliffs of Nuku Hiva rise dramatically from the water as we anchor in Taiohae Bay—an arrival earned mile by mile. You’ll also get to Complete a 3,300-nautical-mile Pacific crossing Stand extended offshore watches and refine bluewater seamanship Learn about long-range weather routing and trade wind sailing Experience life far offshore with a small, capable expedition crew Celebrate a true ocean landfall in the Marquesas Sailing with Panexplore means you’re not just along for the ride.
