I’ve sailed on and off all my life but with an imminent family holiday looming I needed to get qualified. I’ve just completed my RYA Day skipper and want to build from there.

Northerly 3, occasional 4 (and occasional lulls). Calm sea. Plenty of pace today when the wind was on. Hiked out, shoulders wet.

Falmouth, United Kingdom
Frustrating 0-1 (occ 2) ESE with up to 1m swell. Finally virtually becalmed and struggled to drift in against the ebbing tide.

Falmouth, United Kingdom
Light breeze F0-2 variable SE, smooth sea. Used the Bahia with main only. Wind was a little inconsistent and did get becalmed for a while at the yellow GY marker. Still not enough breeze to practice anything beyond keeping the boat moving. Fun to be out though and shorty wear suit was better than the full length yesterday.

Light offshore F2 (occasionally 3) variable SE. Smooth sea. Very light, easy drifting around in the sun. Fun to practice the basics in a solo monosail. Needed a tiller extension, but otherwise good.

Left Helford mooring, sails up and did ‘picking up a mooring under sail. Sailed back to Falmouth. Spinning the boat in the marina. Refuelled Moved to Falmouth and did some quay work. Motored to St Mawes and am here waiting for dark. Recovered the anchor - snagged an unknown cable but freed it. Motored back in the dark. Nav challenge on the way back involving channel marker alignment and depth check. Back to berth and alongside in the dark.
