10-15 kts NW Slow gentle enjoyable progress to Cowes with about 1kt or so of tide against us.

Sunny day starting with light winds <10kts picking up 15 kts after a few hours. Gybed between broad runs most of the way to Portsmouth and then enjoyed close reaching up and down past HMS Prince of Wales Dropped sails and entered Gospot under engine.

First time as skipper of a yacht! Wet and windy start to the day gusting 25 Sails up on reef 3 Sun came out and wind dropped to a steady 15. Shook out the reefs and continued under full sail getting into Cowes at 1600. Cowes Yacht Haven S3

Force 5/6 gusting 7 Rain Berthed in Hamble into tide with wind behind.

Travelled around Procida under power in busy traffic practising IRPCS. Man overboard practice. Williamson technique. Clearing bearing practice to find marina. Used VHF to talk with Marina and arrange mooring.

Power sailed from Nerano around Capri and across the gulf of Napoli to Corricella. Used shallow tacks to keep the main full for higher VMG than going straight. Anchored for lunch Practiced MOB recovery while under sail (jib and main) by bearing onto a broad reach and then tacking into a heave to. Using engine to control the bow as necessary (forward windward).
