Sea Breeze sail

Crew : Guy and Goron were very helpful. VVery poor wind. Could not find any. Followed by a pleasant sail 3-4 knts. As we started to head in Santa Annas started 10-15 knts. After a while reefed main and jib. Still to much wind. Furled main and jib and motored in. Yacht Invictus was starting up the channel as we were heading down. Photo.

First voyage with Sea Breeze

Started out with about 5kts of wind. Saw a couple of dolphins. In about 1 hr wind died completely. Flat water. Had to motor sail back. A quick couple of showers. Crew was great. A lot of politics discussed.

Cruise CIH

Wind was expected to 20-30 kts late day friday into Saturday at channel island. We shoved off at apx 9am. 3 boats. Other boats decided to stay home due to the forecast. Wind was already starting to pick up. Saw quite a few pods of Dolphins. Some followed the our boat. Dan decided to round East anacapa island and head to Ventura. On the way back the seas were 4-7 ft high. Wind had picked up a lot. We were rocken and Rollin. The other two boat decide to stay in the lee of the island and Dona little snorkeling. Happy to arrive in Ventura harbor. Lots of fishing boats. For Squid. Nice town. The park near by had an outdoor Halloween movie. No shower available. Had to sponge myself to clean up. Slept on the boat Friday and Saturday night. Left for CIH apx 9am or 10. Got a lift home with Carolyn. I made pancakes with fruit Sunday morning (no syrup) but good.

Day sail w Marlo and Norm Palley

A very chill sail. Weather turned beautiful. Sailed down to ES2 and back. Did a bit of wing and wing. Fun crew to have on board. Some good laughs.

Day sail w Ron Sasiela on Dream Weaver

Sailed from the Fairwind docks. A gorgeous day. Seas were 2-4ft. Wind picked up on the return leg. A great sail. Dream Weaver has a furling main. Had a bit of trouble pulling it out. I had to go up to the mast. Pulled on the foot of the sail which helped it come loose. Ron used autopilot for quite a while which made it very pleasant to have lunch (while keeping a eye on the boats progress). Sailed close to buoy ES2. We set sails to wing and wing on our return approach to the harbor and also inside the channel. All in all a spectacular sail day.

Training on Sea Hawk

Seas 2-4ft wind 10-15knt Sunny with some clouds. I was informally training on Sea Hawk. 30.9ft. Terry had me back up to a buoy which I did well. Terry told me to be skipper. Crew raised sail In The channel and sail out into Santa Monica Bay. Hove to for lunch tacked several time with me at the helm. Upon our return we sailed wing and wing down the channel. I held course up wind so they could furl the jib and main. I performed a standing turn. Terry instructed me on docking. I made one attempt but had to abort. I was able to do another standing turn to get out of the finger. Made another docking which was better but still a bit of a bounce. Jarrod had pretty good skills but not a member yet.

Manual Entry

Buccaneer Days

My second cruise. Sailed to Catalina Two Harbors on 10/3/2024 for Buccaneer Days. The cruise on the way was uneventful but fun. Arrived and moored in the harbor. My first mooring experience with pickup, bow and Stern Hawser with sand line. During our three night stay we visited emerald bay, took a swim at one of the coves, took the dingy to shore and the finally was the entertainment at Two Harbors. A crazy scene with everyone dressed as pirates. Lots of boats moored in the harbor. A dingy parade. Much drinking and pirate speak. The cruise on the way home was a bit concerning because of fog but luckily we were not engulfed in it. We followed a few of our club boats home.
