Day sail w Peter and Susan

Sailed with Peter Shame’s - skipper and Susan Anderson. Before sailing I undocked and did a couple of practice docking. So did Susan. Susan took the boat out of the harbor. Had a great sail. Moderate wind which picked up as we sailed south. Passed the bouy at ES2 and the tankers at El Segundo. I was helmsman and sail back to into the harbor. Did a wing and wing for a bit. Have the wheel back to Susan. We as crew furled the sails and Peter docked the boat. Excellent crew.

Sail on Osprey for training with Ron

Practiced leaving and returning several time. So did Susan Anderson. After exiting the Marina the wind was ok for a short time then died to around 2 knots. Ron then instructed us on setting up a boom preventer. Many other items of training including review of some Col Regs. One bimini top stantion on starboard side came loose. We were able to secure it temporarily with zip ties. Thank you Ron.

Little wind. Training for Yosh and Terry. Review systems. Docking and undocking Dream Weaver. Went outside the break water to practice anchoring. I was at the wheel after the anchor exercise and took the boat back into the harbor and straight to the dock.

ASA104-return to MDR

breakfast at 7am. i made pancakes w syrup blueberries and apple sauce. very good. Manny also made scrambled eggs. hoisted the dingy in preparation for the thirty mile trip back to Marina Del Rey. I was at the helm for casting off from the 2 Harbors mooring. wind was at our stern so we cast off the bow hawser then cast the stern hawser, let it completely sink to the bottom then apply power in reverse. spun around after clear of the moorings, found the mooring channel and left. lots of dolphins and a whale on the way. no wind. motored back about half way. crossing the shipping lane had to be careful of a tanker approaching but it veered off away from us. womens catamaran stayed ahead of us then verd off away from us. we then set sails. i took it into the harbor and down the channel. then Manny took over. dropped sails and he docked. very good. lots of cleaning after.
