Big swells leaving the harbor and returning, Mellow 1+ miles from the shore. Wind 6 to 8 knots. Completed the harbor inspection for I dock slip #4 today. A short celebration sail was in order. We refueled on the way out for a total of 10.1 gallons after our trip to San Diego and a couple short local sails. Got stopped by the Coast Guard on the way in to the harbor. They asked for: - name - date of birth - where we went - if we stopped at other ports - how often we go out - if we were fishing and that's it.

Really light wind early in the day but picked up once we got offshore a bit. Chartered the boat through SailTime with Instructor/ Captain Alan Barr, who was very knowledgeable. Learned the “hove to” maneuver, a defensive tactic for heavy wind sailing. Swells were pretty much flat. Saw some dolphins right before the end of the trip. It was an awesome first-time experience on a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 440. Quite an amazing boat!

Another new speed record for Pneuma Small swells, mostly wind chop. Wind speed 12-15 knots Overcast but still fairly warm. Held pace with Event Horizon - Juenneau 379 until they furreled their main and jib in under 60 seconds and smoked us back to the dock.
