departed on high watered over then progressed but in the tides do their job on the channel. quite some traffic in the shipping lesson. a couple of close encounters dealt with properly with cargo ship clearing away whilst we were crossing right angles. wind variable 3 to 4. moderate swell. made good progress the first two thirds of the trip knowing when was going to die out ending up motor sailing for the past few hours. pit stop at Studland bay for a dip. and cleaning up the rudder and prop from all sorts of crap picked up on the way. then chicken pasta and back to base later. fighting quite a bit of tide coming in the harbour. brilliant trip overall

first crossing. Very low wind, much less than predicted. ended up motor sailing or motoring most of the way. used the tides taking us back and forth and as calculated arrived uptide. no dramas. a bit boring. fun observing the ships and the shipping lanes

nice day out, going from two knots of wind up to 22. Spring tide ripping. sun was out. Fun day out overall but ended up motoring at the end as wind was on the nose and had to be back. good endurance test
