Stellendam
Started sailing when I was 6. Living on a former island surrounded by water it was the ultimate location to sail and windsurf. Later on I did a lot of match racing. After that a period of sailing with our children on our cruising yachts which grew bigger with children 😀. Recently we sailed around the Atlantic for 2,5 years and now picked up our regional sailing again mainly covering the North Sea during holidays.

Saint Peter Port, Guernsey to Vlissingen, The Netherlands
Very beautiful and quiet night sail. Light winds, reaching over a calm sea.

Again much more wind than forecasted. During the second night we got knocked down by a wave. The boat withstood this easily but I was smashed out of my bed and Annette with thrown around the cockpit. We ended in Camaret sur Mer where we met 3 boats with friends who were on summer holiday. Nice to see them again after more than 2 years!

During the second part of this crossing the weather became more stable with steady wind which blew us conveniently to A Coruna in Spain almost exactly 2 years after we left Europe. A Coruna is one of our favorite cities. Nice harbour near the centre of this vibrant city. This time we ended up in a medieval festival. Cheers!

North Atlantic Ocean to A Coruña, Spain
Rough seas and wind up to 7 Bft followed by a short period of no wind at all. A few minutes after we started the engine our prop caught a fishing net. Had to dive to cut out the net which we took on board to avoid other boats or fishes getting into trouble. We had first planned to sail to the UK unfortunately the forecasts became worse with winds up to 10 Bft. This made us decide to first change course to the south to avoid very strong winds. Then we ripped our genoa leaving us with just the small staysail. We decided to change course to Spain for the necessary repairs.
