Manual Entry

Sailing Lyttelton Harbour

Was a bit more wind than expected but great nonetheless. Temp was 8 degrees so fresh with wind gusting from the SW into the high 20’s… Flew downwind with a full main & #2 Genoa but put the 2nd reef in on the way back. Balance was good for the most part and Sealion loved it, as did Debbie & I… Great way to end 3 days on the water. Rather annoyed as I recorded this with Savvy Navvy but as I was “free sailing” with no route plotted apparently I can’t export the .gpx file???

Easy motor back to the marina

Gary glass off of note… TBF it was the calmest night on anchor in many years.

A night on anchor

Lovely autumn day with a gentle north wind to push us along. Nice to spend some time on the water before heading back to SA for a bit.

Evening Sail

Light NW but enough for a little sail around the harbour… got some seaweed around the keel which added a bit of fun when trying to remove it. Only one wee dolphin came to play but a lovely evening on the water none the less.

Back 2 the marina

Lovely night on anchor, a quick feed then off for a short sail before heading back to the marina. NE was light to start with but started to build as forecasted. Sailed again with the #3 Genoa but a full main and Sealion is very well balanced like this as she was yesterday with just the Genoa. Underpowered yes, but very manageable. So good to get out and about even if it is only a night… :-)

Evening sail to Purau

Pretty gusty conditions (25knt at times)so only put up the #3 Genoa. Very comfortable like this until we lost the dingy so many over bard drill was put into practice. Now on anchor after a great feed… Living the dream :-)

Back to the marina

Started the day with a breakfast on the beach then Debbie chose to swim back to the boat… bloody freezing so needed a hot shower before we headed out the heads. Light winds but enough to move around 3-4 knots at times and this brought the dolphins & 2 Kingfish. Managed to land one then headed back to Little Port Cooper to fillet it. Motor-sailed back to the marine most of the way with the NE filling in for the last mile or so… Wonderful 3 days on the water, ready for the next session already!!!

Cruise out to Little Port Cooper

Started off with a nice NE which had us moving along at around 5 knots at times however that started to fade as we passed through the heads. Not sure why my iPad lost track?

Afternoon sail to Purau

Was a bit more wind than expecting (gusting 18 knots) so full main & # 2 genoa kept me on my toes. Wind against tide is always fun but all in all a fantastic way to start a few days on the water. Lovely swim in the evening capped off with a wonderful steak…

Easy cruise home

Light southerly that did have a few gusts here and there. Just an easy cruise home giving 1st mate the opportunity to trim the sails. Great way to end a stunning two days on the water.
