ASAWinds were forecast to be calm but we had a healthy 10+ knts. It was a beautiful sail on the bay under the full moon and clear skies. Maintained 6.5 knts easily on a close reach and even got above 7 a few times. Went to anchor and watch the fireworks. Stayed for a few hours to ring in the New Year and headed home. What a wonderful evening.

Well did loads of on the dock training. Primarily boat preparation and spinnaker logistics. We tried to head out and put some of it into practice but the weather had other plans. When we arrived near Kemah boardwalk, the fog was so thick you could not even see the bay. With boaters’ horns blasting and sailors hailing security we decided to turn around and call it a day.

Very sporty conditions. Left Kemah around 8am and went full sail in 25+ knot winds. Very quickly realized that error and reefed both main and jib to third reef. Even Omar third reef we hit hull speed of 8.2 knots several times. Winds calmed a bit as the morning wore on. Great practice in some sporty conditions!
