20 June 2026 – Family Sail aboard our L26 Today's sail was a special one as we took Kendra offshore for the very first time aboard our L26. The weather provided a good introduction to offshore conditions, with a moderate 14-knot north-easterly and the typical Durban NE chop running outside the harbour. After clearing the harbour entrance, we settled into the rhythm of the sea. The L26 handled the conditions comfortably, punching through the short chop while maintaining good speed and balance under sail. The breeze was steady enough to make for an enjoyable sail without being overwhelming, providing plenty of opportunity for Kendra to experience life beyond the protection of the harbour. As the miles slipped by, confidence grew all around. Kendra took in the sights, sounds, and motion of the ocean, experiencing firsthand what offshore sailing is all about. Chantal and I enjoyed sharing the experience with her, watching her settle into the boat and appreciate the freedom that comes with being under sail. The sea state reminded us that even a moderate north-easterly can build a lively chop along our coastline, but the L26 proved once again why she is such a capable and forgiving yacht. It was a rewarding family outing and an important milestone in Kendra's sailing journey. Days like these are not measured in miles sailed, but in memories made. Kendra's first offshore passage aboard our little yacht is one we will all remember for many years to come. Our initial maiden sailing session on Counterpoint. We had a light NE wind wich made for a very comfortable sail in the Harbour. Did my Durban Operators Certificate today, so now we are allowed to operate inside of Durban harbour and leave to go to sea
