(L1)Ballard, WA to Newport, OR

Great weather leaving Seattle, after fueling up in Port Angeles – rounding Cape flattery we started to encounter large swells at long intervals. As we headed south swells maintained at 2 m and intervals reduced as we got closer to Oregon. Between southern Washington and Tillamook we encountered 40 kn plus Wind and 3 to 5 m short interval swells. Rough going and long night. Made the decision to fuel up and wait out gale in Newport, Oregon. Altered course and arrived late afternoon. Spent the night and filled up early the next morning. Weather was great all the way to San Francisco.
