Learning to sail

Good westerly winds all day, we made good progress. No issues with Lyon, he took everything in his stride. For those of us who got drenched counter balancing the boat, kept on smiling throughout the day. Getting past the needles turned out to be more challenging than initially thought, which made this part of the journey interesting.

Very exciting first race as were the conditions. Not sure what position we came at this point but very enjoyable.

Champagne sailing for 95% of the journey. We only needed it to motor on day three for about six hours, later the wind picked up again we switched the motor off and continued to sail.

Another beautiful downwind sail with winds up to 22knots. Stunning view of Farol do Cabo de Sao Vincente at daybreak.

Beautiful NW /W wind 12-20 knots sailed on a broad reach. Strong winds overnight. Light winds the following day. We got the spinnaker up. Saw dolphins and pilot whales. Jumped of the boat for a quick swim. Winds died and had to motor the last six hours.

Moaña to Baiona, Spain
5 days and 4 nights Unbelievable sail, great skipper. S/W for 90% of the sail. Fog came in on the last day but even that couldn’t dampen our spirits.
