Flat seas and almost no wind. It was the last day of Ariane’s Cup and it was the navigator’s race. We had issues with one of our mainsail battens. We had to fix it before the start while everyone was rushing to the starting line as there was just a very light wind and there was a fixed finish line closure. We fixed it and we headed to the starting line where most of the fleet had already started. My co-skipper wanted to wait and I wanted to go. After a short argument we decided to go but as we were approaching the start line the wind died down completely. We decided to wait until there was some wind as there were boats which have just crossed the starting line and we’re just sitting there. After 10-15 minutes or so there was a puff of wind and things got going. We finally entered the race and the wind picked up more. In no time we were crossing the finish line and we ended up finishing 5th in that particular race. 2nd overall though!
