Industry CanadaVery calm day. Couldn’t sail until we reached Pt Grey. Then we picked up some wind and got a couple of long tacks from Pt Grey to Bowen Island and back. After that we poled out the jib and went wing on wing back to Pt Atkinson, before motoring back.

Very light, but variable winds mostly SE and SW. Calm seas. Some gusts up to about 8 kts. We practiced tacking and gybing and heaving to.

Light winds in Burrard Inlet. Westerlies picked up once we were out by Pt Grey and continued the further out into the Salish Sea we went. We achieved several good tacks averaging between 4.5 and 5.5 NM SOG. Sea state was intially about 2 ft, but smoothed out into the afternoon. Had the standard jib back on, restitched by Evolution Sails. Performed great!

Gusty. Winds were up to 15 kts at times mainly from ESE. Overcast with dark cumulus clouds from ESE. We lost our Genoa sheets one at a time. Reefed the main first, then lost control of the head sail. We turned around and limped home. A disappointing, but educational day.

Very light winds on a hot, calm day on Burrard Inlet. So, we decided to poll out the genoa to sail downwind. It worked well.

Light, variable winds that picked up past Pt Atkinson and Pt Grey. Furled in the Genoa when confronted by some gusts, which helped with weather helm. Going down wind the Genoa was quite helpful, but it’s still a work in progress.

Quite variable winds, light then gusty. Genoa produced a lot of weather helm going up wind and reaching, but on a broad reach we got up to 7 kts. Sea state was rolling with 2 ft cresting waves following the wind from the west and north west.

Hot dry day, with light wind. Tried out the Genoa for the first time. It added power, but also weather helm going up wind. Had a problem getting the main sail up after having the rigging tuned due to additional aftward bend; a large box shaped slug was getting caught in the track where two pieces of track are joined. I towed the dinghy with a new three point bridle that I made. It worked really well.

Good winds starting in Burrard Inlet and continuing and building as we got into the Salish Sea. Sunny all day. Sea state was calm with only 1 foot waves most of the day. Had to wait for a cruise ship to transit First Narrows on the way back home.
