Chloe helm Roxane trim Chandni pit Laura mast & coaching bow Diana bow Wind very low from the north, northwest. High tide 6:37. Downwind start, hoisted spin before start. A bit late to start but most boats were. Jibed soon after to avoid HWW but had to yield to another boat (would have had to yield regardless they were leeward). Stayed between HWW and security zone buoys for the most part for current relief. Intentionally overstood the mark to avoid needing extra jibes/ getting swept into it. Stayed in river some going upwind, then sailed fat going toward the mark (N, NE side of cove) to avoid getting swept past the mark/ stalling when rounding. We practiced roll tacks on the upwind. Second lap, similar course. Wind got even lighter, and shifted 180 degrees. Started over closer to jersey side. We doused our spin. A clump of three boats further behind us but closer to jersey got the wind first and passed us. We rounded wide to give plenty of room to a boat struggling at the mark. Good downwind final leg, wound up being pretty hot in the end. Final upwind half leg went pretty well. Finished 10/16 Reminders to ourselves: put up casette tape telltales especially in low wind. keep the Genoa cars forward, the sail cut basically requires it. Need to learn: how best to handle shifty winds - adjust course, adjust trim, or just stay a bit over trimmed. Same with "shifts" due to bobbing about.
