wind was a lot spicier than anticipated - felt A LOT of weather helm up and down the course we took. tiller was difficult to handle and we had significant heeling consistently through the sail. went all the way to the Verrazano bridge for the first time!

wind from 8-12kts light gusts no whitecaps until close to 3:30 in the battery channel made really good speed with the spinnaker. gybes were done very cleanly. the house was problematic because the Staten island ferry unexpectedly went up the buttermilk channel so we had to drop it in the water to get it down immediately. upwind sailing felt pretty good overall mostly close hauled.

3rd place overall Race 1: over early, bad 1st spin douse -> too much pressure on it so I couldn't bring it down physically. Race 2: extra tacks to make the first mark Race 3: Fouled a boat on port, did circles, came roaring back douses got better though the night but still remain a challenge in general! hoists were pretty solid from start to finish. I need to remember more about tightening and loosening sail controls in these manuevers.

sailed during sailgp NYC 2026 day 2; all boats racing. wind really picked up around 4pm with consistent whitecaps across the sail area. 100 different boats out so a ton of traffic around the statue of liberty. hannah van hemmen phil Esmay ed rawlins

lori surinder George shaw - light winds - saw a jetskier fall off right in front of a pushed barge which was extremely dangerous! - taught surinder a few things about BSC boat procedure and knots - not sure what George's last name is in order to add him as crew

winds under 15kts 3 races (2 multiple leg / 1 short leg due to the time) mostly good sets and douses with 1 really really bad douse due to an accidental gybe call. need to remember for next time if the manuever doesn't make sense question it. we actually finished in 2nd place for the night for j/80s which is a massive accomplishment given Adam is a new skipper and myself & cooper have very limited racing experience.
