Time at Sea
Wow, after a very wet soaking yesterday this morning started off sunny and warm. We left our berth in Dover and under Port instructions headed to the inner wall of the East Entrance, then given instruction to leave, closely followed by the Pride of 🇫🇷 France. A calm sea and warm. Both sails out and motor sailed close in as the tide against us. Sailed past Ramsgate and Broadstairs. Out to the Windfarm and through Foulgers Gat. The wind picking up bit by bit but a nice F3-4 and slight sea state. Into Felixstowe and down the River Orwell for low tide and berthed up in our home Port. A good day ⛵️ on the water but the last day of our Summer holiday sadly.

Dover to Woolverstone, United Kingdom
Into the Lock at 08:20 for the 08:30 lock. Out at 08:45 and into low tide with 0.0 under the keel. Calm but once out the wind picked up to 10-12 knots. With the wind in the NW and W it was behind so a full Genoa was deployed. But it rained and rained and rained some more and indeed for the entire journey. The wind forecast was F3-4 but it was blowing 20-23 knots from Rye Bay all the way to Dover. Boats were being blown past the Western Entrance due to the strong tide and 20-23 knot wind. Into the fuel berth and that took 45 minutes as no self service and form Filling to do. Then into the New Marina and a nice berth. Now to dry off 🤞

West Wittering to St Anthony's Hill, United Kingdom
We left Cherbourg in Semi dark at 06:45 and motored out to the outer Harbour. Wind directly behind the stern so we Motor-sailed with just a full Genoa. The winds died (forecast was F3-5) but it was anywhere between 11-14 knots and SSW. Arrived near Chichester with Border Force arriving checking our passage. Arrived at Chichester at Low Water Springs tide so waited a good half hour before going to the Bar. Low water was 17:20 and at 18:00 we had least depth of 0.4 m with a 2.2 keel. Into the moorings at East Head Chichester and anchored up for the night.

Cherbourg-Octeville, France to West Wittering, United Kingdom
After a very very swelly night rolling all over the place as the winds were 20 knots + and a very beam on roll in the morning, we decided to leave Alderney and battle the tide to Cherbourg. It was very warm and sunny so more preferable to be at sea than rolling around on a mooring buoy. A slight sea. Genoa up as light winds and battling a tide but we made it into Port Chantereyne and a finger berth.

Beautiful sunny and warm start with hazy & blue sky. Very light winds. Main sail fully up but not enough wind to sail so motor sailed to Alderney in a light swell but calm sea. Through a slightly choppy sea through the Swinge and into a busy Braye Harbour. Picked up a mooring buoy.

Saint Peter Port to Braye, Guernsey
Well after 4 days of strong winds but 5 nights as it was blowing strongly into the early hours of this morning. A moderate to rather rough sea forecast and indeed it was with some very large rolling waves. The wind was set to be F1-2 this afternoon but it was consistently 12-14 knots and from Petit Port to Havelet Bay it was gusting 20 knots. Stopped to refuel and still blowing 19 knots at 14:30. Moored up in the outer harbour at 3pm in Sun. However with both sails up full it was a cracking sail from Corbiere to St Peter Port 🎊

Sailed from Fort de La Latte with both sails and wind on beam. 1m swell. Then wind went dead behind on the stern as we turned at NW Minquier. Main away and motor sailed with full Genoa into St Helier, Jersey

A 7am start and very light winds. Had both sails out and motor sailed but the wind died at Cap Frehel so motored to Saint Cast passing Cap Frehel and Chateau de Latte

Saint-Quay-Portrieux to Saint-Cast-le-Guildo, France
The wind howled and screeched all night last night and felt like a Gale 8 in La Chambre in the Ile de Brehat. Left the anchorage at 8am and out into grey murky conditions with drizzle, rain then fog. Warm but miserable and we got very wet on the approach to St Quay. It was a day of two halv s because at 14:30 the Sun was out and hot !
