ASAAlways a bit winder than "Windy" forecasts no matter the model(s) I look at. well withing sailing limits but we motored all day. started the track a bit late (still getting used to doing that but I've got the full Navionics track...) but we started at CFSA and had lunch on the hook at Albert Hd. then to Vic....

Gillingham Islands to Esquimalt, Canada
colder than forecast and no sun but the wind was perfect for a jaunt across the roads towards Albert head (half way) then towards Victoria then along the waterfront back home. One AOPS out anchoring, one big cruise ship (Caribbean?) 50% main 100% genoa

started the track on my phone late. Motored mostly up to Sidney then beaut sail down to Discovery. Tried sailing the Baynes.... shit idea. motor on and pushed thru. got really spicy in Baynes and past. got some cover from Trial Is and reefed. Nice but stiff ride down waterfront to Home. lucky that Hessian was heading in same time and helped us on the dock (and had the skiff to get us to shore) Great day with Greg. Glad he was there!

last day. beautiful sail jybing downwind from Cooper. jib only. that self tacking jib sure isn't much for control or refinement but it is easy to use... got ourselves into the fuel dock no problem.

this was a big sailing day and a beat uphill from W to E, Diamond Cay to N Sound Virgin Gorda. was going to go far outside but decided there would be more to see, and maybe, just maybe, a little less windy if we stayed "behind" and between the islands on the way. sailed up until we got to just before little camanoe channel (the smaller one to the east). lots of traffic through the bigger side tho too... motored thru that and around marina cay and all the way to the dogs. wanted to stop for a snorkel and maybe coupd have a t George dog but it was still choppy and we all decided we wanted to get alongside. entered the north channel and got over to Leverick Marina no prob. Alongside was... tense, with the wind and had to back that thing into the slip right next to an "expensive" centre console w 4 outboard. wee bumping but no problems. single sail drive (sd40 I think) located just aft of the shoal keel, big-ish prop but both spade rudders are outboard and angled and no help at all in reverse. and the bow thruster has seen better days, not much help. heat sailing day but a bit lumpy and tiring.

the most unblievable empanadas from the empanada guy! motored out of Great over to Sandy Cay to drop the pick for a little swim. still a little rough so didn't stay as long as we might have to explore. swim to the beach for a look. anchor held well but was only snagged on a rock. up anchor and we sailed in the area a bit and north of Sandy Cay into Diamond. bit of a show picking up the ball. at the first ball the tag line got snagged on the bow theuster that didn't retract as it is supposed to. cleared that with some fwd/astern and deft use of boat hook. picked up second ball right in the field, great spot.

Windy... but a great sail. sails up quickly after exiting the Bight and I thought we would have to go all the way around Great Thatch but traffic was light and we had the wind for a perfect beam / broad reach right past Sopers and thru Thatch Is Cut. wanted to ensure we hot a ball in Great so didn't waste too much time. little sail N of the Cut but then headed in. Good ball location and pick up no prob.
