Beautiful conditions for catching a tan wind however not so strong a light NW’ly which with a little tacking got us up to Cap de la Hague

Early start at 0500 started off with a good NW’ly and made good passage for 5 hours until it vanished. Donkey on for a few hours got us past the shipping nicely though. Then breeze came back from the west so back sailing again. It of course died again a couple of hours later. A fun day!

Conditions were flat calm and zero wind it was a motor job but we needed to get home. We’ve been away for near on 2 months and have the most amazing adventure and visited some fantastic places. The crew have been amazing throughout and hats off to them I salute you all 🫡 Time to recoup and plan the next mission 😂

Started off with a good SE’ly full sail that quickly changed and reefed to #2 gusting to 22kts was making 10kts SOG up the little Russell. Wind dropped a little and had a pleasant sail up the race. At the top rain cloud caught unleashed merry hell on us wind backed NW and strong! Only a couple of miles to go so all good Braye was packed and nothing on the breakwater available had to settle for the cheap seats in the south eastern corner

Rather blustery conditions gusts up to 26kts from the north west reefed down great sail flying along. Even managed to sail up the Ile de Batz channel which was fun and still have the keel 😂 It was really cold too double fleece layer, hat, gloves and full oilskins in July!

Another early start today but we all rose to the challenge started off gentle sail and clear skies. That quickly got replaced by rain tons of dolphins it seems they like the rain. Wind dropped so donkey on 6nm south of the Raz du Seine got through without any sign of any sea running. By the time we got near the estuary running up to Brest the wind was back but on the nose but worth sailing as a lot of tide under us. Tacked the whole of the channel du four until the sun came out and wind dropped again. I’d found a little bolt hole named Saint Pabu I think lovely little place. Sneakily picked up a mooring buoy a great day!

Started off overcast forecast promised a decent blow to get us to our destination. We had a breeze to start but that foxtrot oscared as soon as the poring rain came so donkey on again. Seems that dolphins love the rain saw tons and tons over a period of several hours. Wind came back sailed a good 4 hours and died again we were looking to get in late and miss the tide for Audierne so seeing as we’d run out of fresh food and no beer headed into Lucturdy. Days rest tomorrow and then back on it! Put a screenshot of the windy forecast and trust me it wasn’t what we got 🤬

Early start again got to keep knocking the miles off to home. Forecast wasn’t quite right so consisted of:- Donkey Poled out Cruising chute Gybe More of the same Twisted chute due to light winds Donkey A nice passage and how lovely is Belle-Ile from what we can see from seaward sadly it’s another hop tomorrow. Now get that dinner on and the beers out it’s another early one tomorrow And another thing…the tug in the photo was the give way vessel miles out to sea was beam on didn’t seem to alter but all good and then when about 200m away gave a single blast (turning to starboard) turned to port and was pushing up our arse. Had to turn hard to starboard ourselves to avoid him what a dick!
