Everybody seemed to want to go out for the best wind of Labor Day weekend. I reserved the last boat and put it on crew finder. Ben said he was about to book and had 2 more, Mike was in, Alec said too many on the boat, then Josh joined too. A couple more emailed but didn’t join. Stellar J and Manic had just returned so we had 2 boats available but decided to go out all together, 6 on a J80. Got some brisk wind with a dead spot north and west of the club. Motored to wind, then sailed the rest of the way. Nosed into port Madison but turned out when it looked dead inside. Had a great time, sunny and windy and +6 knots for a few glorious moments.

Met up with Brian and Dylan at 9am and pushed off promptly. Motored through a vast parking lot of fishing boats and set sail once we were west of the fracas. Sailed a while but then had to motor due to lack of speed. Headed straight to port of Kingston hugging the shore with good depth and plenty of fishing boats, tug with barge was well west of us. Josh and Sean met us in the bay after taking underdog out an hour after us, and then left us in the dust. Got to Kingston at 12:30 or so, paid the $10 guest fee for under 30 in spite of the sign on the dock that said the cut off was 25. The pizza was all that, New York style New Yorker with Italian pilsners all around. Ate in the park by the marina with a big wait at Willy’s. Saw a person yelling loudly about the wait. Got back on the boat with some hopeful sailing for a good while, but then some motoring to keep moving. Saw porpoises, sea lions, seals, jellies, gulls, big salmon Sunny with variable wind 5 kts or below

Blowing 9-11 from the south, beat South with a couple of tacks, then entered rich passage on a reach and gybed a couple times through. Wind died at the beginning of the north passage after rich, but got sailing again after 15 minutes and then sailed the rest of the way to liberty bay entrance, gybing reaches and some wing on wing. Motored up to Poulsbo and had the Makai outboard die on approach to slip, fortunately had chosen not to go on the inside slips so just got blown away from the marina until the motor got going again, then got into a slip and tied up for the night with all the pirates.
